Fuel system (petrol/gasoline)

The opening times of the injectors are controlled by electrical impulses

The fuel pump is situated inside a plastic reservoir clamped between the
top and bottom of the tank. It is located by ribs on the bottom of the
tank and secured at the top by means of the pump cover (7). The pump is
fitted in the tank by screwing the screw ring (10) into the pump cover
from outside the tank. Any flexing of the tank is absorbed by the fuel
pump's spring element (9).


An ejector is "driven" by the flow of fuel through the delivery line via
a T-piece. The pump is an electric rotary pump. The purpose of the
ejector is to ensure that the pump is continuously supplied with fuel.
Due to the location of the pump in the reservoir, the supply of fuel to
the engine is maintained during cornering and acceleration even when
there is only a small quantity of fuel left in the tank.


The pump can be removed through a hole under the rear seat cushions.


A non-return check valve on the pressure side of the pump, fitted in the
connecting nipple on the pump cover, prevents the pressure in the fuel
line from dropping immediately after the engine has been switched off.
The non-return valve on the return side of the pump prevents fuel from
flowing "in reverse" should the car happen to overturn.


To reduce exhaust emissions when the engine is started, the fuel pump
has been modified for M01. The fuel pump unit has a check valve by the
ejector intake that ensures that the fuel level in the pump reservoir is
kept as high as possible, even when the level of fuel in the tank is
low. This means that the fuel pressure when the engine is started
increases more rapidly, providing better starting and thus reducing
exhaust emissions. There is a fine filter by the check valve intake
protecting it from dirt.

The fuel level sensor in the tank is mounted on the fuel pump plastic reservoir via a jointed arm.


The RFI filter helps to reduce the risk of radio interference in the system.

experience to work on a system which is half full. If it all goes wrong,

Years ago it would have been a gate valve. Now, ball valves are used
since they last longer without leaking and do not get clogged up and
made unable to close properly.
Use a Ball Valve designed for water. They usually have a blue handle. Gate valves tend to leak and get stuck.

Installing Slide Gate Valves

Slide gate valves are used to control water
pressure. Due to constant pressure of the water, there are possibilities
of wear and tear of any part of the valve or the valve itself. It is
recommended that they be checked properly to make sure that everything
is fine and should be replaced at the earliest if there are any damages
to make sure that there are no major problems.

Step 1: Turn off the Water Supply

Turn off the water supply from the main on both sides from the water
meter. Place a bucket and a rag underneath the valve so that you can
catch any water that might flow out.

Step 2: Loosen the Nut

Use an adjustable wrench to hold the valve housing firmly. Use an
open-ended wrench to make the compression nut loose so that if there is
any water pressure, all the water will leak out completely.

Step 3: Loosen the Bonnet

Take an adjustable wrench to remove the stem, which enters into the
valve’s housing. If it is screwed then you need to make sure that the
housing is held firmly with the wrench and using a proper sized open
wrench, you need to turn the bonnet.

Step 4: Take out the Bonnet

Carefully take out the bonnet from the gate valve housing making sure
that the disk comes out along with the bonnet from the housing.

Step 5: Replace the Valve

Replace the valve if there are any damaged seats, or clean the seats
of the valve using a rag. Damage can include any chipped or broken edges
or any sort of wear and tear of the disk.

Step 6: Replace the Disk Slot if Needed

Check the disk slot to see if there is any damage. If there is any
damage then replace the disk slot by sliding the stem out from the slot.

Step 7:  Replace the Stem if Needed

If the stem does not turn properly or if it sticks then you can replace the stem. Some stems can be unscrewed from the bonnet.

Step 8: Reassemble the Gate Valve

The gate valve needs to be reassembled properly by sliding the bonnet
along with the disk and stem into the housing. You need to make sure
that while tightening it you do not apply too much pressure. If you
notice this, then the valve is not sticking. Use an adjustable wrench to
tighten the bonnet and the compression nut.

Step 9:- Check the Valve

Check the valve by turning the supply of water once again to make
sure that everything is fine and that there are no leaks. If there is
any leakage, turn the water supply off, fix the part that is leaking and
check again until satisfied.

ANSI Gate Valve classification

A gate valve, also known as a sluice valve, is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid. The distinct feature of a gate valve is the sealing surfaces between the gate and seats are planar, so gate valves are often used when a straight-line flow of fluid and minimum restric*tion is desired. According to the different standard, we can divide gate valves into JIS Gate Valve, GB Gate Valve, ANSI Gate Valve, and DIN Gate Valve and so on. Because all of them are one kind of gate valve, so they contain all the features of gate valve.
 Would it be wise to replace all of the gate valves with ball valves in a house?
Most older houses have gate valves (the old style where you twist several times to open and close) rather than the newer ball valves that turn water on and off in a quarter turn. Gate valves lose their ability to cut off water supply completely, they leak, and even when fully open they have a water flow loss. Ball valves solve all of these problems, making gate valves obsolete.
In my opinion, it would be the plumbing equivalent of changing electric fuse boxes to circuit breaker panels.

Stormwater and wastewater (sewage) systems can be built as separate
or combined facilities. The more modern houses and businesses now have
separate piping systems for sewage and stormwater, while some cities are
upgrading their present combined systems due to the occurrences of
spillage of sewage into the environment following a rainstorm. This
spillage can be from overflow at the wastewater plant or from regulators
in the piping system, but both measures involve dumping raw sewage into
the local environment.
This happens because of a combined plant’s inability to process the
additional stormwater and sewage at the same time, preventing a
back-flow of sewage to the local houses.

This is an article on flow control of drainage from wastewater and
stormwater systems, in particular from combined sewage systems. We begin
with a look at the some of the problems with a combined sewage plant
and then move on to the control of outflow.
As we have seen the combined wastewater and stormwater plants are
being phased out in favor of a separate plant for each process, however
many major cities of the developed world do still use this system. This
is mainly because sewage and stormwater collection in the same piping
system was acceptable in the early 1900’s. However, as the city
populations increased, the sewage plants could not handle both sewage
and stormwater drainage, and thus we have the current problem of
controlling the inflow, processing, and outflow from a combined sewage
processing plant.
To overcome the problem of sewage overflow from current plants, some
plants install large underground storage tanks to hold the influx of
stormwater and sewage, which is then processed later. Tunnels at the
gate valve facility have also been used to store and treat drain water and sewage influx following rainstorms.
In order to have separate processing facilities, the stormwater and
wastewater must be collected by two separate systems; one for sewage and
grey water,
and one for rainwater drains. In most cities with combined sewer

exists between two other pipes that screw into either end of the valve.
These areas are a point of weakness in case there is a blockage or

All you need to do is turn the knob to the left to close the valve and
then to the right to open the valve. Doing this occasionally will
prevent the valve from sticking inside the pipe as well as keeping the
wheel loose.
The steel gate valve is assembled with a series of nuts which attach the
valve to the pipes and the wheel knob to the post. Use an adjustable
wrench to tighten all the nuts to the right every year or so. This helps
to maintain the pressure when the valve has to be used.
